Congratulations goes out to all club members who raced the Avia Wildflower Triathlon (club race). Results are now being posted through the TriCalifornia race site. In the team competition, OC Tri Club placed 5th in the long course championships and 17th in the Olympic distance races. Podium finishers include Larry Davidson (3d AG, Long Course) and Natalie Trevithick (2nd AG Mtn. Bike). If you have photos from the race you would like to share on our site, you can upload through your account or email to communications@octriclub.com. Be sure and post your race reports in the forum.
It was certainly an honor to have our guest speaker, Cherie Gruenfeld share in the the celebration right along with us too, as we heard the race reports. This was certainly a night for Ironman fans as Cherie shared her journey from sticky buns to Ironman champion! In case you missed the meeting, you can read her book Become An Ironman. A big thank you to our sponsors: Fleet Feet for the running shoes, nutrition and running gear, Tri Zone for the aero helmet and triathlon gear, Motortabs for the tablets, and NEOSPORT for the wetsuits. And of course, Ladera Cyclery, Avia, and One Tri for their continuous support. We would like welcome our newest sponsor, Rudy Project as well.
While we have already filled the slots for our upcoming Dave Scott Clinic, it's not too late to sign up for the dinner the night before, at the Fox Sports Grill (Friday, May 16). Dave will be at the dinner, and will give a brief presentation. Contact Edward Hernandez to give him your reservation. Check out Dave's webpage to read more about him. Dinner-only participants will pay approximately $40, based on the final number of participants.

We usually go to the far end of the swim beach near the volleyball net. Please email Martha with any questions you might have.

The Big Corona swim starts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, however some members do show up early. A reminder to train safely and swim with a buddy, wear a bright colored swim cap, and swim near open and manned life guard towers.
Our Saturday bike ride begins at 8:00 a.m. (be there early to prepare). The first Saturday of every month we have a "newbie ride," for first-timers and beginners. Options are available for longer or shorter rides as well. Check the forum and website calendar for more info.
This is a reminder to all new members of the Orange County Tri Club. Be sure to email Paul Abad our Uniform Coordinator at uniforms@octriclub.com. Let Paul know that you are a new member, and also give him your uniform size. It is very important for new members to get this information to Paul, so he can order correctly. Thanks, and welcome again to all of our new members.

Upcoming Events..............
Our next club race is the City of Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon, 5K & Kid's Runs (formerly known as Saddleback Memorial 1/2) on May 26th. Check out our calendar section for race discount information.
Save the date, June 8th for our annual OC Tri Club Beach Party and club photo. The location will be at Bolsa Chica State Beach just 4 miles north of Huntington Beach, immediately after the USAT Playa del Run National Championships.
Blazeman Triathlon - Last year, John Ryan organized an event to raise money and awareness for the war on ALS and spoke at one of our monthly meetings. A number of OC Tri Club members participated. This years event is scheduled for June 29, 2008 and has Sprint, Olympic, 20.3 or 140.6 distances as well as swim, bike, or run only. It is a great way to get some training in for a purpose that is greater than ourselves. Jon "The Blazeman's" father, Bob Blais is planning a trip from Massachusetts to attend this years event.
Mark your calendars! The CAF Auction will be held on Tuesday, August 26th.
The forum is also a great way to get members training together for upcoming races. If you are training for something specific and want some training partners, announce it in the forum and they will come. Remember to check our Calendar for training opportunities.
